Steve Emer, AIA, LEED AP

Principal

Quietly confident, architect Steve Emer demands the best for his clients. His great depth of experience may be the reason he handles even the most intense situations with elegant ease. With a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Architecture from Rice University, he exhibits a good design sense and a strong appreciation for detail.

Steve conveys confidence to others, which automatically brings out the best in his teammates. Because he's always curious, interested and engaged, clients request him by name, making him one of Mackey's "architects of choice." He has worked on many high-end projects including country clubs and private residences. When a client wanted his new home to be authentically "Williamsburg," Emer spent time in Williamsburg, Virginia, studying all the nuances of this architectural genre.

His calm demeanor commands respect. Combined with his wit and sense of humor, he is the kind of guy you want to spend time with. Steady and deliberate, his natural inclination is to be an excellent listener, a critical characteristic for serving clients, and he understands there are many sides to an issue. As an architect interested in history, he has a deep interest in being a good steward of the built environment, which led him to becoming a member of FOCUS St. Louis's Leadership program.

What also speaks volumes about his personal values and commitment to architecture is the care, attention, and rigor he brings to his pro bono work as much as he does with his clients at MMA. He has the ability to collaborate with and inspire people, and as a result, has forged long-lasting relationships.
