Javier Esteban, AIA, LEED AP

Principal

Often called the "Matador," Javier Esteban was born and raised in Madrid and has lived in the US for nearly 17 years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture & Master of Urban Planning from the University of Madrid and received a Master of Construction Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a LEED accredited architect registered in Missouri, Spain, and the European Union, and served as an adjunct professor of art and architecture at Meramec Community College in St. Louis.

With an ability to view situations from "30,000 feet," his capacity to see the big picture allows Javier to quickly understand problems and recommend ideas and solutions. He has managed two of MMA's large-scale university projects including residence halls for the University of Notre Dame and Evergreen Hall at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Javier enjoys working on projects for institutions of higher learning because they have the capacity to shape a student's development.

In his passion for the architectural profession, Javier goes the extra mile, whether volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or earning a degree in construction management to become a better architect. Recently, a University of Notre Dame client applauded his efforts saying, "Javier's professionalism, technical knowledge, and diligence to get things right the first time are consistently at an extremely high level. We work with many architects nationwide, and Javier stands out as one of the best."

He recently completed building a sustainable house in Holly Hills, Missouri, which he and his family designed together. His dream house is a reflection of his life and family, where architecture defines space in a clear and organized manner and allows for the expression of each individual—a belief acknowledged by the "secret room" he created for his youngest son.
