Dick Kirschner, AIA, LEED AP
Principal
Dick Kirschner grew up in a small town in Indiana. With a closely-knit extended family, he always felt there was support for whatever he wanted to try. "With the strength you get from a supportive family, you can build a strong foundation," he says. "So very little intimidates me." From that background, he also learned the value of hard work. But architecture was the only thing he ever wanted to do. Even before he knew what an architect was, he would draw plans and pictures of houses. For some kids it was fire trucks, but Dick was fascinated with buildings.
He’s been described as smart, easy-going, thorough, rigorous, and logical with a lot of common sense —an all-around trustworthy kind of guy. Friendly, forceful, and fair, he demands the best from everyone with whom he does business. Contractors know not to "mess" with him — he scrutinizes every detail of the design and construction project he manages.
A magna cum laude graduate of Ball State University, Dick has become an expert in projects related to student life, managing multiple projects for Washington University in St. Louis, University of MIssouri, University of Nebraska, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and Truman State University to name a few.
Early in his career, he did one of his more infamous projects. Although it may not have won any awards, his two young sons were pretty excited that dad designed a floating Riverboat-style McDonald’s on the Mississippi River. |
