Thomas H. Peterson, AIA, LEED AP

Principal

As his friends and colleagues will tell you, Tom Peterson maintains a high standard of excellence, creativity, and meticulous attention to detail.

Along with architecture, he has strong artistic skills as an award-winning photographer, graphic designer, painter, and sculptor. With his sharp left-brain capabilities, he has also kept a 40-person firm on the cutting-edge of technology.

The firm has been diligent about implementing new technologies to improve the architectural process and further reduce our environmental footprint. He researches new and innovative technologies with an understanding of how they impact the firm. Peterson served as a panelist on "Digital Workflow: Are We There Yet?" at the 2007 AIA Future of Professional Practice Conference in Washington D.C. and was a speaker at Greening the Heartland 2008, presenting the Electronic Submittals process he implemented at Mackey Mitchell, which eliminated paper from the submittals tasks during construction administration.

A 1990 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Tom has been with Mackey Mitchell since 1995. His architectural experience includes designs for the Global Ministry building at Trinity International University, the Tram Station at the world-renowned Missouri Botanical Garden, Verhaegen Hall at Saint Louis University, the Lindell Pavilion renovation in Forest Park, St. Louis, and a police facility for Washington University in St. Louis.

Modest and unassuming, he produces a variety of objects d'art, ranging from blown-glass vases to letter openers, jewelry, and unusual garden ornaments. He also enjoys frequent trips to Las Vegas, "card night" with friends, and renovating a 13,000SF historic building (with a freight elevator) which will become his new home and art studio.
