IU to Build Residence Hall of the Future

Mackey Mitchell presented their design concept for a new residence hall on June 24th to board members at Indiana University in Bloomington.  IU was selected as one of three campuses in the country to adopt principles outlined in ACUHO-I’s (Association for College and University Housing Officers International) 21st Century Project, a multi-phased initiative that “reimagined” the future of college and university housing.  Mackey Mitchell’s design concept adopts the four main 21st Century Project guidelines which focus on community, technology, flexibility, and sustainability.  The concept is guided by the belief that it’s not enough for college housing to simply provide students with four walls and a bed. Students demand more from their residential experience, and administrators now realize that distinctive, functional, and technologically advanced living experiences can attract and retain students. Mackey Mitchell’s project  team includes Dan Mitchell,  Jordan Gatewood, Dan Schneider and Kelli Reeves.
