Sharing Food and Fellowship

A liberal arts college in Fulton, Missouri transformed their one-story, fluorescent -lit cafeteria environment into a dignified structure that has become the heart of campus culture.  Mackey Mitchell’s design for Westminster College’s Mueller Leadership Dining Hall responds to the students’ desire for a space that reflects the campus’s historic character.  The $8.4 million, 20,000SF building seats 380, and has three private dining rooms. According to college president, George Forsythe, “The building is now the center of campus life, where the community gathers for dining and socializing.  It’s a favorite venue for many  activities including poetry readings, small concerts and social functions.”  By creating a memorable collection of attractive spaces, the building has become a regional social destination and a desirable venue for special events.
