Symphony at South 40

The  plazas at  South 40 House on the campus of  Washington University in St. Louis are being used for a variety of student events – including special performances by the St. Louis Symphony.  Serving as a hub for student activity on the South 40 campus, the project features the latest in student amenities and places for student engagement.  Modeled after European streetscapes, the student housing project was designed with a pedestrian spine that serves as a pathway connecting the South 40 housing with the academic campus to the north. Cascading stairs, ramps and a sloped garden lead to a tower plaza which has become a major social center for the entire residential neighborhood. Mackey Mitchell’s  project team included Greg Frankenfeld, Nick Naeger, Kyle Wagner, Jordon Gatewood,  Dan Schneider and Karen Dahl.
