It’s official!  Mackey Mitchell Architects now has its own Toastmasters Club, following the guidelines and rules developed over the years by Toastmasters International, a pioneer in communication and leadership development. It’s said that public speaking is one of man’s greatest fears. Since it’s a requirement in the architectural profession, what better way to overcome that fear than by standing in front of a supportive, friendly group of colleagues.  Twice a month during lunch-hour meetings, a group of employees gather to hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere where members evaluate one another’s presentations, give impromptu talks on assigned topics, and conduct skills related to timekeeping, grammar, and parliamentary procedure. Having a supportive, internal “Toastmasters Club” is consistent with one of Mackey Mitchell’s guiding values of life-long learning.
