Webster University Loretto Hilton Performing Arts Center
St. Louis MO
"We are storytellers - and the story of cooperation in making this building come together is impressive. It is a model and a signal to other institutions in the country that our artists and technicians are worthy of top-notch workspaces, which underscore a sense of pride in what they do."
— Steven Woolf
Artistic Director
The Repertory Theater of St. Louis
- Home to two of the region's premier performing arts organizations - The Repertory Theater of St. Louis and The Opera Theater of St. Louis - the project has been applauded by donors, users, and the professional team that pulled it all together.
- Giving life to the supporting areas was an important goal for the Loretto Hilton. For the first time, dancers can practice in a rehearsal studio equal in size to the performance stage. Costume shops were tripled. Prop building facilities are six times larger than before. The greenroom, dressing rooms, scene shops, dye and draft shops and offices were all renovated and expanded. Workstations with overhead equipment were added to each shop, allowing people to pull down, retract, and move equipment as they work on theater scenes. The Center's three floors are united by an over-sized stairwell, and each room has a direct link to the stage - so no cues are missed.
