- After completing a comprehensive study for the University of Notre Dame's student housing, Mackey Mitchell was selected to design the university's first new residence hall in 10 years. A major design challenge was to provide updated facilities and programs for the students without altering the unique Notre Dame experience.
- Duncan Hall, a 68,482SF, three-story building is now home to 232 male undergraduate students. It features six sections, each with a dedicated study and social space organized around a central lounge with a kitchen and vending area. Each section contains single rooms, doubles, and triples. Rooms for four offer bay windows and private bathrooms. A chapel with a vaulted ceiling is located on the second floor The project received a "Midwest Construction's Best of 2008" award based on quality, project management, teamwork, and service.
