This new village of nearly 2,000 residents is being developed using principlesof New Urbanism - where pedestrian-scaled buildings with front porches and on-grade entries provide a sense of community. The project, which began in 2005, is changing the face of on-campus housing in Kansas and challenges all stereotypes associated with student life.

• K-State has nearly completed the first phase of a 10-year redevelopment plan for its 55-acre Jardine Apartments. Mackey Mitchell, in collaboration with Gossen Livingston, has designed 736 new beds, giving undergraduates, graduates, and students with families a shared living community. The complex features apartments, townhouses, green spaces, on-site parking, playgrounds, community and retail facilities, and an academic center.
