Marketing Manager – Proposal Lead
POSITION OVERVIEW
Mackey Mitchell Architects is seeking a Marketing Manager – Proposal Lead to join our team in St. Louis, Dallas, or Asheville. This role plays a vital part in driving the firm’s strategic growth by leading proposal efforts, developing pursuit strategies, and crafting compelling content that highlights our values, expertise, and design impact. As a nationally recognized architecture firm, we foster a collaborative, mentorship-driven culture that values curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Proposal Leadership and Strategy:
- Lead the development and coordination of proposals and presentations, ensuring alignment with firm messaging, branding, and client goals.
- Collaborate with project teams and firm leadership to develop win strategies and articulate differentiators.
- Support go/no-go processes and facilitate strategic conversations with market leaders.
Content Development and Management:
- Write, edit, and curate proposal content that is accurate, engaging, and client-focused.
- Maintain and update firm resumes, project descriptions, and boilerplate using tools such as Deltek Vantagepoint and OpenAsset.
- Assist in developing collateral for public relations, awards, and general firm marketing.
Marketing Planning and Support:
- Assist in establishing and executing annual marketing plans and budgets.
- Analyze market trends, conduct research, and create targeted strategies for outreach and business development.
- Collaborate with market sector leaders to shape pursuit strategies and materials.
Mentorship and Team Support:
- Provide leadership and mentorship within the marketing team.
- Help coordinate cross-training, regular check-ins, and professional development opportunities.
- Represent the firm at professional and community events, including SMPS involvement.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of six years of experience in proposal management or marketing within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
- Experience in the higher education sector is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
- U.S. work authorization required.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Project Designer and Project Manager as a key team member.
- Lead design efforts and ensure the successful execution of project vision.
- Balance multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality design standards.
Technical Expertise:
- Organize and assemble document sets efficiently.
- Apply building codes and guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Understand and coordinate building systems (structural, MEP, FP, etc.).
Teamwork & Communication:
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills in client and team interactions.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high performance.
