Visionary Leaders

At the turn of the 20th Century, Robert Brookings’ (seated in photo) civic leadership played a pivotal role in the development of the St. Louis region.  His extraordinary vision included the creation of the Washington University Hilltop Campus, as well as the founding of the world-renowned Brookings Institution.  On Wednesday, June 22, Gene Mackey, founder of Mackey Mitchell Architects will deliver a talk on the contributions Robert Brookings made to our city, the nation, and the world.  The lecture is part of the ongoing Clayton Century Foundation lecture series and is being presented in conjunction with the dedication of Robert S. Brookings’ star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame.  The lecture will take place at 7:00 pm at College Hall* in the South 40 Residential Campus (designed by Mackey Mitchell Architects) on the Washington University campus. (College Hall is located in the South 40 Residential Complex. Enter the South 40 via Big Bend by turning onto Shepley Drive.  Follow the signs to the Lien Parking Garage) To attend a special reception after the event, contact Jane Miller at janemiller@wustl.edu or 314-935-5752.
