Celebrating a Year of Success

A vibrant neighborhood needs strong, community anchors and amenities which is exactly what the Old North Grocery brought to Old North St. Louis when it opened a year ago on July 17th.  This month marks the one-year anniversary of bringing healthy, fresh, and affordable foods to the heart of this historic district. Mackey Mitchell architect Jordan Gatewood provided pro bono services to help make the neighborhood’s goal a reality.  His efforts in designing the new entry with accessible ramps and new storefront windows, along with handling permit drawings for interior and exterior improvement grants, helped the Grocery achieve its grant deadlines.  Pro bono work offered by Jordan, John Burse, and Tom Moore are a vital part of Mackey Mitchell’s ethic of making positive contributions to the community.
