Restoring a Historic Treasure

Revitalizing the Old Cathedral is the cover story in the June 3 issue of St. Louis Review (the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of St. Louis). The first step in a comprehensive restoration project will restore this city’s historic treasure. Extensive upgrades will include repairs to the museum’s exterior facade; improvements to the interior infrastructure; and restoration of the Basilica’s interior and sanctuary. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Old Cathedral was completed in the fall of 1834 and is a prominent example of Greek Revival architecture.  Mackey Mitchell Architects designed the current renovations, with Musick Construction as the general contractor.
