Pavilion Restoration

Spink Pavilion was originally built by Henry Shaw to serve as the main entrance to the world-renowned Missouri Botanical Garden. The Garden commissioned Mackey Mitchell to undertake a total renovation of the stone gatehouse, which includes new floor-to-ceiling clear span glass windows, a new reception area with updated lighting, and new modern restrooms. New HVAC systems were installed along with a permanent awning and a new sophisticated sound system.  The restored pavilion is situated on the grand plaza overlooking three large reflecting lily pools, the Milles Sculpture Garden and the Climatron (designed by Gene Mackey’s father’s firm Murphy & Mackey).  The renovations have transformed the space into one of the most sought after event spaces in St. Louis .
