Apartment-Style Community at UNI

Consistently cited as one of the “Best in the Midwest” by Princeton Review’s rating guide, the University of Northern Iowa is getting a new on-campus, apartment-style community designed for 800 residents.  After developing the master plan, Mackey Mitchell and Invision Architects have completed the project’s first phase which includes 204 beds in a mix of apartments and studios. The design calls for a single four-story building with two wings to create a smaller scale, while maintaining the efficiency, convenience, and security of a larger building.  Designed  to achieve a LEED-silver rating, the next two phases will add three new buildings (including a community center) to form a “neighborhood” and a quad space for recreation.
