Table Talk

A recent issue of  The ASHA Leader (American Speech Language Hearing Association), published an article by Mackey Mitchell principal partner Steve Emer.  “Table Talk: Improving Dining Room Acoustics for Older Adults with Hearing Loss,” discusses acoustical factors and outlines the ideal dining room acoustics for individuals with hearing issues. He presents  design strategies that can be used in planning “zones” for improved speech intelligibility.  Steve spearheads Mackey Mitchell’s Dining Group and has extensive experience in higher education projects with an emphasis on dining facilities.  His clients have included colleges, private residences, and country clubs.  He was the project architect for highly-praised Westminster Dining Hall at Westminster College in Fulton, MO.  Steve may be reached at steve_e@mackeymitchell.com.
