Eggs in Space!

St. Louis Design Week events included an old-fashioned egg drop. Not familiar with the concept? Competitors (including a group of 5th graders) were invited to design a capsule that would withstand the highest drop from a machine lift. Mackey Mitchell’s egg-cartridge-building team of Dan Schneider, Avik Guha, Lea McRoberts, and Kevin Symons cooked up a competitive casing that would withstand the test. Along with the “highest drop” award, teams were also recognized for “Longest Flight,” Best Minimalist  Design,” and “Biggest Splat,” (which MMA received)! Contraptions were judged by  Cat Neville, publisher of FEAST Magazine; Cameron Coleman, Principal of Adams Elementary School; John and Cathy O’Brien, Proprietors of Three Flags Tavern; and Phillip Shinn, Architect and Senior Lecturer at Washington University School of Architecture. A great event for a great cause!
