Delaware Delight

Having gained a solid background in both oral and ASL approaches to deaf education from working on the  Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis project and a deaf school in Maryland, Mackey Mitchell served as consultant for the new Delaware School for the Deaf with Marcus Adrian leading the MMA team. Working with Gaudreau, Inc., his  experience was vital to Delaware’s primary goal of developing facilities and programming to meet the emerging needs of the cochlear implant generation.

The recently completed school has 95,000GSF of K-12 academic space; administrative offices; a cafeteria; library/media center; therapy rooms; science, art, and drama classrooms; and a 330-seat auditorium.  With a suite of diagnostic and treatment rooms for hearing, speech, and occupational therapy, this early intervention center provides outreach services and education for families with young deaf children.
