As designers for campus life projects, Mackey Mitchell’s work emphasizes the understanding of each campus’s sense of place. Texas Tech University’s recently completed West Campus Village demonstrates that commitment. This design-build project with Whiting-Turner and BGK Architects for a community of 455 upper-division and graduate students provides places for study, gatherings, and dining within a setting of landscaped courtyards and public art. The project extends Texas Tech’s reverence of Spanish Renaissance-style architecture and has opened to rave reviews.
Mackey Mitchell’s project team included Dan Mitchell, John Burse, Kyle Wagner, Steve Emer, Gregory Keppel, Tom Moore, Clay Phillips, Nick Naeger, Kevin Symons and Merrilee Hertlein.
