After a significant renovation, the architectural integrity of the Old Cathedral, one of St. Louis’ signature buildings has been brought back to life. Mackey Mitchell’s staff got a first look at the transformation with a tour led by Tom Moore. In addition to stone restoration, window replacements and new HVAC systems, interior upgrades included restoration of wood floors, removal of the finishes from a 1960s renovation, and repair of the mosaic tile floor around the altar. Mackey Mitchell and Musick Construction led the renovation along with a team of engineers and preservation specialists who were instrumental in making the building as historically consistent as possible. The project which aired on KSDK-TV, will also include the rebirth of a museum providing an additional attraction on the St. Louis Arch grounds. Mackey Mitchell’s project team included Gene Mackey, Tom Moore, Lea McRoberts, John Brown, and Avik Guha.
